DULUTH, Ga. -- A landmark Duluth restaurant is enjoying a rebirth.  The Rexall Grill reopened this week, after being closed.

If you're not from Duluth, you may not have heard of the Rexall Grill.  But odds are, you know a place like it.  It's not fancy, but the customers here say the food is really good.  "I love hometown places," Rexall customer Katie Moushegian said Wednesday.  "I love hometown cooking and I love to eat!"

But while the food may be the big draw, Duluth's Rexall Grill also fills a niche.  In many ways, it's the hub of the town.  "I think that's part of culture in society and that's where you really get all of the news and you can relax and be comfortable and enjoy good food," Moushegian said.

For many people in Duluth, the Rexall Grill is a tradition.  So when an unpaid tax bill forced it to close down about a month ago, many were disappointed.

But now, the Rexall is back under new ownership and it has all of the same old touches as before, right down to the collection of vintage coca-cola memorabilia, that was auctioned to pay a delinquent tax bill.  "A lot of our customers bought it at the auction and then they brought it back to us," new Rexall Grill owner Lynda Alley said.

Alley also owns the pharmacy next door.  She says it was a chance to keep a part of Duluth alive and diversify her business portfolio.  "We don't have all our eggs in one basket," she said.  "We just fry some over here every once in awhile."

That makes most everybody at the Rexall happy, and they'll be coming back for more.

"I like that idea of people coming in and meeting and they have a place and it's sort of a cozy, homey type atmosphere," Moushegian said.
