PITTSBURGH (AP) -- The Pittsburgh Steelers have selected Georgia Tech running back Jonathan Dwyer in the sixth round of the NFL draft.
The Steelers were expected to add a running back after three-time 1,000-yard rusher Willie Parker signed with the Redskins. Parker's departure leaves Mewelde Moore as the top backup to starter Rashard Mendenhall.
The 5-foot-11, 229-pound Dwyer was the 188th overall pick Saturday. Nicknamed the "Diesel," Dwyer rushed for 3,329 yards and a 6.4 yards per carry average, plus 35 touchdowns, in Georgia Tech's triple-option offense.
