ORLANDO -- A female kickboxer from Atlanta who was knocked unconscious during an amateur tournament over the weekend has died.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that Adrienne Simmons, of Atlanta, was participating in an International Kickboxing Federation tournament at the Orlando World Center Marriott on Sunday.
During the third round of a three-round fight, she received a left hook which knocked her unconscious.
The fight was stopped and a doctor at the scene treated Simmons. She was then taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center where she died Monday afternoon, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
